Good projects start with a few clear choices.

These are suggestions for shaping your project. Use what helps, change what does not, and keep the first step small.

A project-starting checklist

  1. 01

    Pick your spark

Name the thing you are curious about or want to change.

  2. 02

    Write it down

Describe your idea in up to 600 words. Plain language is best.

  3. 03

    Meet your mentor

Bring questions. Your mentor is there to help you think it through.

  4. 04

    Choose a first step

Pick one small thing you can try before the next Saturday review.

  5. 05

    Share your progress

Tell the group what worked, what did not, and what is next.

A simple first mentor meeting

  1. Introductions

Share your name, what you care about, and why you signed up.

  2. Your idea

Walk your mentor through what you want to do.

  3. Questions

Ask what you are unsure about. There are no silly questions.

  4. Next step

Agree on one small thing to try before you meet again.

A few common questions

Who can join?

Teens ages 13 to 18. You will be asked for your birthday when you sign up.

Do I need a perfect idea?

No. A spark is enough. Your mentor helps you shape it.

What happens after I submit?

Your idea shows up on your dashboard as Submitted. The ICC Wings team reviews it, may ask you to revise it, and then matches you with a mentor.

What does a mentor do?

Your mentor reviews your progress, gives feedback, and helps you plan your next step, including at the Saturday review.

When are the Saturday reviews?

Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Pacific. The ICC Wings team sets your review date once your project is approved.

Who can see my project?

You, your mentor, and the ICC Wings team. Projects are not shown publicly.

Is there a cost to participate?

No, there's no cost to sign up or submit an idea. Funding for a project's own supplies is separate — see the Funding page.
